10 month old rooster almost killed a hen

He's in a bachelor pad now and has been since I found my orpington in bad shape. He can stay there indefinitely, that's not a problem. Will having him separated from the hens make him even nuttier?
I honestly don't know. I've read about people doing it but I dealt with my crazy guy differently. I had more than one to choose from though.

One of my hens (buff Orpington) was attacking strangely two days ago and wanted held. I saw some blood on her so checked her out. She had HUGE gashes down both sides, right where the roosters talons would rake down her sides when mating. Took her to the vet. Full thickness lacerations meaning you could see muscle. After an expensive vet visit she’s a house chicken for the next few weeks until stitches come out.
I know it’s him because we’ve seen him mount her—not even to mate— and scream and peck at her head. We separated him from the ladies (he’s got all 12 hens bare on their backs and needing saddles) immediately.
Now tonight when I went to get him out of the outer run and put him in the isolation coop, he tried to attack me. That’s a first.
He’s a Brahma and up until now has been pretty sweet. I’ve had him since he was a day old and he’s been treated like a baby. He’s rough with all of them but this was just awful.
Will separating him for a few weeks help with this? Or should I start trying to find him a new home now?
Time to eat him. People say he can change, but in my experience bad roosters don't change. He'll get worse. A rooster that attacks people is very, very dangerous. Put this guy in the pot now, before something worse happens. You don't need a rooster to have eggs!

Wow thank you everyone for this post ! I’ve been reading up to try to figure out what to do with my 30 weeks old rooster . He is HORRIBLY. Mean to the girls and he doesn’t even have talons yet , rips their feathers out on the necks & swings them around - always when I turn away to do something else . I had named him “trouble” when he was days old & he’s living up to the name. I’m going to a friends to process her meat birds soon , guess he will come along in the kitty carrier.. . . Sad because they should be the protector not the predator he is :(

I don't mean this to seem harsh but candy-coating the issues with this bird is not going to make those issues go away, so.... here goes.
I wouldn't bother with finding him a new home. The sad truth is that if his "new home" wanted a rooster to keep, then he's NOT the rooster for them. You'd only be passing your problem on to the new owner, under the pretense of finding him a more suitable home. Only true purpose this beast serves with his demeanor is to put food on the table; and it might as well be YOUR table.
