Barred Rock genes are overwhelming in just about any mix.
I'm now hatching some 87% Dixie Rainbow birds and their genes are finally dominating.
Their daddy is white and about 12 pounds.
Their momma weighs 12 pounds.
The oldest batch is about 2 months old.
I hatched 5 of these Florida Golds and all 5 are pullets!
Lots of chicks coming in behind them.
I'm hoping that these hens reach 10 pounds.

I weighed one of the mature hens from my smaller Rainbow Rock line.
8 lbs. 3 oz.

I just got another scale.
I estimated Wingman to have grown to 12 pounds since his last weigh-in at 10 pounds but he is only 11 pounds.
Big Mama, who previously weighed 12 pounds after going broody for a week just weighed in at 14 pounds! She is a beast.

Curious, how old are these birds?

I began hatching Rainbow Rock last July.
I raised 10 white rooster sports and chose Wingman to sire The Florida crossbreed.
The Dixie Rainbow hen is 3 years and 3 months old. Still laying up a storm.
Big birds mature slowly.

That's great! We have some BJG and they do mature more slowly.
