not to butt in here, but i think it is because of the yellow beak... ameraucanas should white-ish beaks, if i'm not mistaken...

I see everyone is jumping on the red comb, but if it is EE, it would have hackles pointing at us and I see none. I am going with a pullet, and she is purdy.

My hens aren't that red either and they are 7 months old. I also have a feisty hen, but again her comb isn't that red. What there is of a comb.

the comb is very red for that age, but it is also still very small.....
i would say s/he is still walking the line...
my EE roos started to get their comb color at 3 weeks, but they were also taller off the head than their sisters... still peacomb, but definatley roo pea comb at 3-4 weeks... a side shot of the head to see comb size might help along with showing the hackle feathers....
