In the first picture it looks like the blue one has the beginnings of pointy saddle feathers poking through, right behind its wings. Also, the hackle seems to be developing. Pictures can be deceiving, though, but if you look closely and do find those pointed saddle feathers, then it must be a cockerel.

I don't see that type of feathering on the black one just yet, but it is big and has a large comb and wattles. So maybe a slow maturing cockerel. Normally, I would expect to see more evidence of the male feathering at that age, though.

So at this point I'm leaning toward both being cockerels but I think there is still a little hope that one or the other could be a pullet.

Gah! I wish I could tell for certain at this point! I'm going out of town in 3 weeks, and the last thing I need is for them to start crowing while I'm gone.

Take them with you - just kidding. They are beautiful especially the boy But I agree with Jed - there is always hope until they crow.

Hard to tell at this point. The hackle feathers are looking quite long though, but I am brand new to this breed so I am not a good judge. Saddle feathers, again hard to tell. Beautiful plumage though!

They are beautiful! At 16 weeks old with no crowing or obvious saddle feathers? I'd start feeling a bit hopeful about pullets. Most of my roosters had started crowing, or at least tried to crow by that age. But, they still could be late blooming cockerels.
