Hey guys, may be a dumb question but we are new to this chicken thing as well as them having their own door to the coop!
Its pouring out
they are standing out in the rain???
they wont go in (ironically the opposite from my last question)
Is that ok? is the rain going to hurt them?

We had really bad storms roll through last Sunday and like always, my 13 week old pullets stayed out it in plucking around until it really started to come down. I think they actually love the rain. The couldn't get out in it fast enough this morning.

My husband TRIED to get them to go in by herding them towards the coop and they were like "no way"

I have 5 week old turkeys and assorted chicks together...my turkeys will stay out in the rain longer, but they all seem to like it. It always confused me, don't know why I thought they would respond like a cat about water...

sometimes worms rise to the surface when it rains ... they are truly asexual (can reproduce without another worm present) mating is more of a social function --- they need moisture to rise to the surface

also, because the way they "breathe" they can never drown

... the chicks may be waiting out in the rain for the worms to rise for a tasty treat

lol chickens love the rain

i loved watching my best friend Samantha's chickens in the rain..only one of them was kinda stupid or suicidel (one or both of the two) and was looking up while it rained..and it drowned...so it any of your chickens do that..it would be wise to get it to stop O.o

Rain won't hurt them if they are fully feathered. It's how my chickens get their baths, since I am not about to bring a chicken in the house to bathe it. Okay, I did once, but that was because they got into blue paint.
