One of my 10 week old chicks is pooping mainly white liquid poops, and yesterday we spotted some blood in there. It's possibly more than one chick, but so far i've only seen one. All the chicks are acting fine in themselves.
They have been going outside from four weeks old, and were moved out permanently when they were 8 weeks old. They have been living in a run and are let out to free-range for a while throughout the day. Could this be cocci - and if so i thought they would have built up a resistance to it by now? They've been out in the coop two weeks and have been fine & enjoying the sunshine, the past three/four days it has been raining constantly and everywhere is muddy, could this have anything to do with it?
When the chicks were four or five weeks old we noticed bloody poops, too. This was my first incubator hatch so i immiediately began panicking
We ordered some cocci meds (which didn't turn up until three weeks later!) and treated them for worms. The cocci medication didn't arrive so they weren't treated for that, but the wormer medication seemed to have improved things, and all poops were normal after that.
None of the chicks are acting ill, all appear to be eating well. They have been fed medicated feed since they hatched. Any ideas what's causing them problems? We have cocci medication and wormer, should i treat for cocci, worms or both?? Please help, i'm lost and have no idea what to do! Thankyou in advance :|
