What breed is this? I thought they'd end up being very meaty. They were by far the fastest growing chicks I ended up with. They're still the largest of the bunch. Their legs are huge, but they don't have much meat on them. I'm wondering if it's worth waiting a few more weeks to butcher them, or if they'll ever fill out.

It's a red sex link cockerel. They will never fill out like a meat bird. You may want to wait a little longer before butchering. I usually do my excess cockerels around 16 weeks of age.

x3 sex link cockerel. 16 weeks perfect age for layer breed cockerels to butcher. Much older and they start getting to tuff to fry. 25-30 month olds are great for soup/noodle birds.
