i have a 10 week SSH that I'm not sure on gender. I was sold as a sexed pullet, but it's comb is wider than the other pullets. The comb is wide, has always been wider, but shows no vertical growth and is the same color as my other pullets of the same age, there is also no wattle development.

I included a pic of my barnevelder pullet, same age, to show that the color on the SSH is almost identical to the other pullets. I've never had rose comb birds before so I'm a bit unsure on sexing them. Thanks for the help

Do you have any other cockerels? If not and this one's not crowing I'd guess she's a pullet.

I don't have any other hamburgs other than this one and one that's an obvious pullet. It's not crowing either but I just assumed it was still a little young to start crowing

You use crowing to sex a chicken, some roosters never crow while some hens will crow when no rooster is around. Rose combs are always wide, you start to worry about your bird being a cockerel when it turns red at an early age. Your chick looks like a pullet for now, but I would like to see a full body shot.

My rooster and hen in this breed are markedly different at 6 weeks old. From the last batch of chicks I learnt obvious behaviour markers of Roos, but these SS Hamburg roosters look different too- at a young age.
