10 weeks and thinking two of my three are roos :(

Here are some of the closer pics of Cleo... I thought she met a lot of the Amera qualities except for her coloring, so I figured she was probably an EE:

That Easter Egger looks like a pretty surefire pullet to me.

I'm a little stressed now, I'm pretty sure I have two roos now, and only one chicken... Idk how to introduce any new chickens to the 'herd' both the ducks and the chickens have all been raised together, and my coop only has three nesting boxes (though, I only havae one hen I guess).... I'd hate to get rid of either rooster, we raised them and held them and names them

So far, no one is fighting... and the ducks and chickens all sleep in the coop together, so I'm gonna cross my fingers and hope it stays that way...

From what I have read to tone down rooster to rooster aggresion you need around 10 hens per 1 rooster. I am not sure about that, but I think that is what I have read..

I am sorry! Start spending time with both and figuring out pro's and con's. I have heard you want a rooster to respect you and not be too much of a lap chicken. Far as I know there are no different feeding needs, especially if you use flock raiser. Your BR sure is handsom though, my Joon (BR pullet) is drooling over the labtop as I type. Well sitting on my lap at least lol but I am sure I heard a little whistle from her

Also I have a friend here on BYC who has a few roosters, along with some ducks too. Everybody seems to get along in her flock and I am pretty sure they all interact.

LOL That is so funny Morgan! Ya, I always did think Mocho was very pretty... was hte first one with a name too! My five year ol named him haha... and atleast he has a name that sounds boyish, cause Lucy the RIR that everyone thinks is a roo... well, I guess his name with be "Lucy the boy" LOL

Who is your friend? Maybe I can message them to get some input, like how many additional hens I should get, and how to introduce the new hens....

I hate to mess with the balance of the flock

Just FYI as well, I have heard Hatchery RIR Roosters tend to be... Tempermental. Personally I would keep the Barred Rock IF you absolutely have to choose. My friend's screen name on BYC is gryeyes she has two Cayuga (not spelled right) ducks and numerous roosters. Two mature at least I believe. She is very nice and has helped me a lot, hopefully she can help you as well.

Yes, I had pretty much already decided to keep the BR if it comes down to it.... We got the chicks very young, so they've been hand riased for the most part, but not overly.... so hopefully they are going to be okay

Now you'll have to get a BR pullet (mine is my favorite), and something to replace the RIR. And if you had your heart set on an Ameraucana, get one of those, too.... It all comes down to chicken math.

Yes, I think getting a BR hen will be nice.... I'm not ready to give up on my RIR roo though, hoping everyone stays getting along
