I got 7 straight-run chicks from a poultry farm, and now they are 10 weeks old and finally beginning to resemble chickens! Not one of them has begun to try to crow though-- is it too early for that??

Roosters can try to crow pretty early, I've had some give it a pretty good try at a month old, some will be a lot older than that before trying. Average is probably around 10-16 weeks at a guess with most of mine.
