I just made a coop and cut out a 10"x10" nesting box. Will this be ok? Please post from experience, rather than what you have read... Thanks!

A lot depends on the breed you are raising. Bantams would probably be fine in a 10" X 10" nest box. My Dominiques prefer a larger box. Mine are 12"X14" and are fine, but if I were to build more, they would be 14"X16". A little wider than what I have now. Mine like to turn around in the boxes, adjust the nesting materials, etc. None of them just go in,lay an egg, and then leave. They take their time and relax for a while.....

The floor of mine is 12 x 13, 10 inches tall. New Hampshire Reds seem to like it.

Awesome to hear. I think I will have to make it a little bit bigger... (grrrrrrrrr.) I don't know what I was thinking making it so small. I think I just had 10" x 10" pieces laying around... Back to the workshop!

My chickens seem to be fine with something a little bit smaller than 12x12. I would wait and see if they use it or not before building something else.
