What are the other types of shavings that are dangerous to chicks?

Made it through the week and all is good.

I will be picking up shavings and cleaning out their brooders and putting down the shavings tonight and tomorrow. I will do weights tonight or tomorrow for my 3 test subjects. I was curious as far as one of the fat butts that was running around, so I picked it up and weighed it and it was 4.3 ounces. I checked a few charts and this one is over the minimum weight for 1 week. It should weigh less. I'm thinking some may be growing too fast. I am feeding 26% protein and I think I may need to lower the protein. Do you all think 26% is too high in protein? I may lower it to 20% or 17%. I"m worried they will grow to fast and start dying. :/

Yes, that's way too high for CX.

Try 20% or 22% at the very most. 18% is good too.
