100 Broilers and Fermented Feed Project

KG -- if you have clover on your property it should be starting up in a couple weeks as well. The birds here go out and graze the young clover like a goat or cow would. At this point you can supplement with just about anything you have access to. Many of the independent grocers still "process" their own produce from bulk shipping and you may find somewhere to get the lettuce and/or cabbage trimmings and any other produce that would otherwise be tossed.

Oh yea, I have plenty of clover that they will be able to eat.

Speaking of tossed fruits and veggies. For the last 10 years, I have been lucky enough to be friends with the local fruit and veggie man. At the end of the day, when he has sold all of the fruits and veggies that will be sold, he delivers all of the leftovers to my house for my animals. And the thing about it, there is NOTHING wrong with the fruits and veggies. He just doesn't like selling day old fruits and veggies to customers and I can understand. So they get anything from watermelon, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, etc. I wish that they would eat the left over fruit pulp from my wine making but they turn their nose up at it and walk away. :/

YUP.

I'm looking to improve the amount of grass and clovers that my land can produce because the birds have eten everything green around the house. ALl my lovely flower beds are reduced to dirt. and My lawn never needs mowing.

I have 3 pumpkins left to toss to them-- two in good shape and one starting to get soft.

I've been emptying my freezers as fast as we can eat up and tossing odd things like bread to the birds. Making room for more chicken and turkey.

O my KG -- me thinks I'd be elbowing my way in on those watermelons right in besides the birds

. Good for you on already having that connection. Your little meaties should enjoy all manner of goodness with such a spread. I like them to eat something (anything?) other than the high-pro feed and it'll slow'em up just a bit. I feel they may end up a wee bit better for it in the end. Like your meaties from years ago that you successfully grew to adulthood. Hope you guys get your plucker issues ironed out in time -- they really are a blast to watch.

You may be able to rent one if you do get stuck...

There were 2 guys that told me that I could borrow theirs last year but I can't find their phone numbers.

The town of Pleasantville was left reeling with shock at these photos of a massive watermelon massacre that took place at the local farmer's market on Saturday. Police are following up on leads to the perpetrator of the juicy crime and any citizen with information are instructed to call the police department as soon as possible. Witnesses at the scene said they heard gunshots and ran away or dropped to the ground but didn't get to see who did the actual shooting. Names of the melons will be released pending notification of family. ~United Press
