Hey there fellow fowl folk. Here I have uploaded a photo of some current construction of my chicken coop. Yes, the run fencing is dog kennel pannels however 100% of all work is repurposed materials. The only thing I had to start with was a tool shed. Anyway, any advice, options, or comments would be appreciated.

great! love to see anything get 'repurposed' to a useful existance!

Are the vents at the top of the walls sealed off with hardware cloth or something similar?

No they sure are not. I yet to have any problems with anything getting in the coop via the vents other than insects, thus i haven't sealed them up yet...

I don't think a motivated raccoon would have any problem shimmying up onto the roof and slipping inside...though, tbf, I don't really know how large the holes are. Otherwise, it looks great. I'd love to do this sort of thing with an empty shed that I have out back.

This a good point however the only critter we have living near here is mice. Plus the holes are only about 1 inch is size if not smaller. Well the whole shed is a small garden shed with a tin room built off of it. All of my supplies are all re-purposed. And I'm about to add a big run using pallet wood. All in all the more repurposed materials the cheaper and more character the coop has.
