101 reasons we love ducks

My favorites...the head cock to look at the sky, the chattering as the hens madly forage for special treats first thing in the morning, the happy cacophony of noise when they first get access to their pond in the morning, and their mad run across the yard to catch that bug that is flying just a little too fast, and dance they do when they catch it. They can make the darkest day bright. And lastly, but certainly not least, the 'secret language' I now speak and can share with other duck owners about all the joys ducks bring - and the rest of the world thinks I am nuts - but happy!

They way they squawk like crazy when someone comes home and the front gate slams....we're here, come and feed us!

#252: when you hold out a watermelon wedge for them to pull pieces off of and they somehow end up running away with the whole thing.

#253: when your duck struggles to jump out of the kiddie pool for five minutes and fails, then goes back to swimming like they were just kidding and didn't actually want to jump out yet.

254: How cute they are when they walk in the back door and demand their mealworms, just like it's part of their coop.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned.
255: How duckling have to "grow into their beaks," Their beaks are tiny for the first week or two and then they grow into it :D

256: The feeling you have driving home from TSC, or the post office with that special box on the back seat.

257: The way the baby ducks on your lap would really prefer to be on your shoulder, but you just aren't leaning back enough for them to scamper up.

258: When that little beak hits your hand because the baby duck behind it just fell asleep

259: When baby ducks get a little too big for their box, and you come down in the morning to find one slipping on the linoleum floor, peeping desperately for its friends

260. The first thing that happens when I pick up a duck while wearing a tank top is the cursory beak pinch to my arm fat.
261. Their amazing vertical leap when chasing bugs or tall weeds.
262. They can clock a water hose running from a mile away!

I know this is an old thread, but it made me smile...and it made me miss my babies so much that I had to take a midnight trip to the coop to get a duck fix before bed.
