Charlie, how much Durvet V&E would you use per gallon of water? (i.e. small batch preparations....)
Thanks

What happens also is your chickens will stop eating and egg production will also decrease with the high heat....when you add the durvet to the water its also helps keep the vitimins in there bodys..It really works..been using this for over 7 years with chickens in hot weather and it really helps 101%.. its also helps when they are under other stresses besides heat...most any feed or supply store should have this available..

No kidding on that one! 2 eggs yesterday and 3 today with 11 hens. I will check the feed store tomorrow and if they don't have it I will order it online, thanks!

Charlie, thank you for smoking the peace pipe with me and also for telling me about that vitamin supplement...I went by the feed store before wok this morning and they had 3 packages of it..camie in packs like gatorade powder comes..$3.75 each, I bought all 3. I change their water everyday anyway so I added some to the fresh water, let them sratch around in my yard awhile and when they were put back in their pen they drank quite a bit of water so hopefully tomorrow they will feel great. The heat was in the nineties today and with the fan inside t heir pen and the wading pool they do seem to be more energetic. They really like that water to walk in and perch on the side of that bowl and hang their toes in, that was a great idea too.

I looked at walmart for those blue ice packs but all I could find was the lunchbox sized ones, so I will keep looking for those too. I have a clip on fan now too that blows htrough their sleeping area at night..did that two days ago and today had 5 eggs...been having 2 or 3 at the most so that is helping too.

Got OUR air conditioning unit changed out today..$1400.00 worht..ouch!!! But ours died before we left for Travis' graduation last night and it has been really hot in here..nice and cool now....will be a much better night sleep for us too!!!

Thank ya'll for the sympathy on my chicken and for the great suggestions for keeping the rest cool, hope they help others too.
