I have a 10 week old bronzbrested turkey, a few days ago we noticed that he was having trouble walking and keeping balance. Kind of like if he was drunk. that evening he had lost all balance and would lay on the ground, only being able to kick his feet in distress and flop around, and have some tremors. The next day was sunday and living in a small town in TN nothing was open. I went to the farm store first thing Monday and got some Tetroxy HCA-280. After doing extensive math I am giving him 600mg dose for 2 days now. The bird is eating and drinking, I go out and make shure he is well hydrated. He also seems to be in good sprits. We keep a VERY clean coop and the run is 330linear ft. of yard and woods with only 13 birds in it (3 older chickens, 9 young chickens, and the 2 turkeys). They get fresh food and water daily. I put the sick turkey in our other run so it is separated and in shade. I have done so much reading on sick turkeys and cant find anything that makes sense.

Not shure what to do next. Hope maybe someone might have some insight to this. Thanks so much

Could be anything from a mechanical injury (struck/or was struck on the head) to mycotoxins (had it been raining and really humid in the days before these symptoms appeared?) Since rest of your flock is fine I'd wonder about those possibilities:

Some info on mycotoxins: http://www.mycotoxins.info/myco_info/animpy_sr.html

Observe dropping for anything different from those of the healthy turks.

On the rare occasions when we've been `trained on' by thunderstorms, in late Spring and Summer, I run up to 5 box fans to dry out runs as quickly as possible. For the few hours a day they are out ranging they take their chances with the fungus ID, but the regular food and scratch is always dry.

Just one possibility of several. (also observe for any unusual posturing of the neck - twisted around, primarily - that could indicate something else entirely).

Yes it had been raining the day before this started, and they do have shelter outside in the run. I had hoped it might b a ear infection but after 48hrs of antibiotics, I to suspected fungi. But I was hopeing it was not that since there looks to be no meds for such a thing. From what I have been reading u just have to keep the bird well fed and watered. I did buy a "high potency vitamin B complex" that I was going to give my birds, sick one included. Any one have any other suggestions on what to do? (apart from maybe the deepfryer)

I'm in Middle Tennessee.
Sorry to hear about your turkey poult not feeling so well.
Have yo seen any type of discharge or physical symptoms?
Has the poult improved, the same, or deterrorated?

In the mountains of mountain city, love it here. The turkey hasn't shown any improvement, started the vitamins today, clucks and calls to the other turkey. Funny how they miss each other. The sick ones poop looks normal. it acts fine except for the fact that it has no control of its legs, it can move them but if I stand him up on them he will just fall over.

thanks everyone for looking
