Every picture I have seen on Sumatra chicks... they are black and white. This one has only the tiniest bit of white under it's beak and you don't see it unless you hold it over your head to check. (yes, I was looking all over this thing for clues!)
Privitte! I got a answer! Privitte hatchery. That is a HUGE clue (I'm variating off course.... follow me). These were dying (the TSC chicks) from the same symptoms that the order I got from Welp two months ago were dying from. WELP dropships Privitte! TSC buys Privitte... they all had the same symptoms... that lead to death of about 1/3.
Sorry for getting off topic a bit. The light just came on!
They can still be Sumatra, and that is what I am thinking they are. Any chicks can very from the common coloring. I have a wide variety of coloring on same breed chicks I have right now. Sometimes you see breeds you know will be all black on their feet and some on their beaks as well but it doesn't come with that as a chick although in time will turn black. I think you just got a really black Sumatra chick. Does Privett have them? I didn't know that Welp drop-shipped from them. That is good to know.
Well, if you are right, then I hope it is a pullet for sure. A multiple spurred rooster will HAVE to stay here. Where I am, there are way too many cockfighters for me to feel comfortable selling him. He'll have to get his own mansion here! lol. Then I'd have to find him a wife so he isnt' lonely. Boy, I hope it's a pullet if it's a sumatra. lol.
And, yup, Welp definitely dropships privitte. We got 20 bantam dels (that are pretty healthy.. lost two) then got 10 buff sebrights and lost 8. Then the TSC had who knows how many and the guy there said they were dropping like flies about 3 a hour. It was the same symptoms as I had the month before with that order I mentioned. I bought up some of the sick ones and tried to treat them (I had successfully saved 1 previously with veggie oil) and so far lost three out of the ones I bought... BUT I bought 9 that showed symptoms... so I call that a success.
Anywho. Maybe it is a sumatra. It is so pretty. lol
Well, here are a few pics of a few of the birds feathered out... these are the ones I still don't have a clue about.
One fo the bantams: looks like a wild bird's coloration.
These two were fluffed the same coloration, but now are completely different. I have two of the whiter ones and one of the darker ones.
Now, this is NOT one of the TSC chicks... but oddly enough... it did come from Privette too. It was supposed to be a buff sebright... I don't know what it is.
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST!!! The black chick!!!! It's comb isn't nearly as black... or really black at all anymore.
Most the others I pretty much know what they are... I got lucky with 3 blue andalusians... 9 white silkies (don't get jealous)... 2 silver sebrights... some red and buff cochins (bantams and standards)... and some white leghorns. This is fun! I never understood why someone would order a "grab bag". I was always a know-what-you-are-getting type person... I think in two years when it is time to replace some of the layer flock... I may just go with a "grab bag".
