About 12~ days ago I hatched out 5 Mallard/Cayuga mix ducklings. Yesterday evening their brooder was attacked by a pack of feral cats, leaving only 1 alive.
As these were incubated, her parents are not receptive of her (her dad actually attacked them days ago) and mom is currently still sitting on a large batch of eggs herself. so it is accustomed to being around peeps. She will not eat, drink, or stop peeping unless I am physically touching her or hovering a hand near her. The duck actually had to sleep in my bed last night as it would not relax otherwise.
Since I have no peeps its age, its parents have rejected it, none of my chickens will foster it, and i cannot physically contact the duckling for the next 6 weeks, I am looking for any one with peeps in this age range so it can have a normal duck development. The mirror trick doesn't work, toys don't work, this duck isn't stupid. It knows the difference between being alone or not.
Anyone preferably around Picayune, MS but I will bring the duck anywhere around in the area (Slidell, Pearl River, Kiln, Poplarville, etc)
