Hello! I’m hoping to get some feedback on an incubation issue/may not be an issue-
This is the third time I’ve incubated eggs, although before I’ve only done 4/5 eggs at a time w/100% success.
I’m in day 13 on this current hatch- started with 11 eggs (silkies) and after the first week I candled to see that 2 were not fertile and we lost one that had fertilized. This morning I checked again and 3 more had stopped developing which leaves me with 5 live eggs still.
I’m really hoping to have some success, but I’m not sure if this is indicative of an issue or simply An average success rate?
I’m hoping I didn’t mess up somehow; such as contamination from me or from the source farm (first time working with this supplier)
Any advice is appreciated!

Are your eggs shipped and if so how far? Were your other batches shipped?
No they were a local(ish) pick up. I’m second guessing everything from when I put them into the incubator, to the sterilization of my incubator etc. ugh.
I just don’t want to keep seeing losses :(
Every batch I’ve had success with were also hand delivered

I’ll try my best not to candle again until next week when it’s lockdown time I’m just so scared I’ll find them all gone :( chicken mom worries

Do you have calibrated thermometers inside to check temp accuracy? Something must be different.

You can candle every couple days if you want to. Candling won't change the outcome though. Its tough to watch and wait, I know.

Several factors are different; location of incubator, source of eggs, weather, incubator was on second use (cleaned) but prior batch of eggs it was brand new. First hatch was in a different borrowed incubator.
Plus the number of eggs I started with (11) was bigger ive only done two 4 egg clutches prior. I guess there’s no way to know what’s different that’s might be causing issues I’m just worried it’s a sign of more bad news but I’m hoping that the last 5 eggs with hatch successfully.

Update; remaining 5 have made it to lockdown. I just checked on them and first one has already internally pipped! Hoping for the best outcome. Documenting mostly for myself now :)
