We got some ducks that are all supposed to be female, however this one is confusing me. She has a brown beak but she doesn't really have a quack. Recently she's been changing colour, but she hasn't molted her first time yet. What could this be, and could it be a male? Also should I be worried if I only have 2 females and chickens if he is a Drake? I also have a Cayuga I'm unsure of

Also sorry about these pictures, she's a bit skittish.

If you have two drakes & two ducks, you might need to choose a drake to stay & one to go, from what I've read. The drakes have the light raspy voice, while the gals quack. I have one drake over a year old and he is changing from his nuptual (mating) plumage to his comfy pjs. I don't think the first-year drakes change--he didn't. I also have six mixed breeds I hatched this spring. I call the collective duck. Where they go one, they go all. :lau Some quack (females) and some rasp (males), but they're always so close to one another that it's hard to tell who or how many make which sound.

I haven't had any problems with drakes trying to mate my hens, and my older drake had a companion drake his own age up until that one disappeared recently. I've heard mating attempts on chicken hens can be an issue though, and may harm the hens.

i think they mean he is their only drake, so two hens is fine
