11 week old Sussex sitting down!

Just realised it is probably the middle of the night for most of you in the States!
I had a Rhode Island Red that had bad scaly leg mites. I notices she was sitting down alot and struggling to walk (using her wings to balance herself) I discovered the issue and treated it. This may be what is affecting your girl. Google scaly leg mites and see if those pics match your girlies legs.

Thanks I'll go and check that out. So hard when I havent' yet got my head around the normal! Maybe she has got funny legs and I've jut not noticed!

Using wings to maneuver herself does not sound good. I have a speckled Sussex who has been sitting on her haunches for a year now. But she also has jaundice. I've tried antibiotics and Corid, no change. Some days she can't get out of her nest. I just try to spoil her.

Marek's would be one disease that causes wing walking, but before you think Marek's, you should eliminate all other possibilities.

Anemia from bugs, worms, vitamin deficiency, any ailment that causes weakness, etc.

You said she was hunched and sitting most of the time. Check her neck and legs to see if they may be a little crooked. Also are you sure she's eating and drinking well. Is her poop runny?

Nope legs seem fine, just been out to look but thanks for the idea.

I just saw her moving from the water to the food and she didn't really do it again kind of flopped to move!

Wow how did you figure out it was jaundice? i did have an initial panic about Mareks but couldn't see anything that would suggest it (other than the sitting) like grey / uneven pupils etc. How would I work out if she is anemic? I have given them the grit with added vitamins 'bits' in it and they loved it last night - I've left a small dish to free serve as they need it. Also just filled the waterer and added the vitamin cure I bought yesterday - I also checked she was able to drink (she had some whiile I watched). What other ailments should I look into - so tricky when I don't know what she could have (as in what the are susceptible to getting) to look it up?

Poop seems normal so far as I can see - I actually saw her do one yesterday and it was picture perfect poo not runny and not hard! Nothing odd looking in the coop at all and I just gave it a bit of a clean and put down fresh bedding for her. I checked her neck, legs and breast bone and they all seem fine (I even had a feel of Clementine to see if it was all the same!). Food wise - yep she is eating she voluntarily moved herself to the feeder while I was there too and as I said above she is drinking as far as I know - is it enough - who knows!?

Any other supplements I can try or should I give the vitamins a chance to work if she is lacking in that before adding more things to the mix?

Other chicks remain very healthy looking thank goodness and going about their busy little pecking on 2 feet day! Sadly it is pouring so I'm not putting them outside today unless it cheers up a bit this afternoon.

Thanks for all your help so far - keep the ideas coming as the mystery still remains.

So I have just been out to check on her and check the lights are off for the night and she seems a little brighter, she stood up to see me when I opened the lid on the little coop:

She soon sat back down though

She then went over to have some food - as you can see she isn't standing like she does normally just sits on her haunches:

So frustrating not know what is up with her. I'm just hoping I'll go out in the morning and she'l be 100% again which is what happened last week! I think that makes it even odder too that she did it before and came good again.

The reason I asked you to check her nck and legs is that I've jed a few chicks that had a vitamin E deficiency and it can cause crooked neck syndrome and spraddle leg syndrome. It started like yours with just weakness and then both were very apparent. I bought vitamin e with selenium caps and at first put it in the water and gave it orally with a dropper. It is curable. It doesn't sound like that but be sure to watch her neck and legs. We are all worrying with you.

Thanks @pasuit really sounds like something that could be a possibility worth keeping in mind and I certainly will when I check on her - particularly considering it has pretty much been raining here since she was born so she has had very little sun! Oops ignore that was thinking vitamin d!

On the upside this morning she was up and about when I went out to her and I've put them out in their day play area so even though it is a bit overcast and a few showers they are outside (I've set up a shelter for them to go under if it rains. I wouldn't say she was 100% - she seems not quite steady on her feet. She did happily do a little flying practice when first let go outside and seems quite happy. I must go down and check on her actually I've been out for a bit.
