Storms can frighten any animal. You apparently deleted your original question so I'm unsure what you are asking. There's not much you can do for them. They will get used to mild storms, but big ones can be stressful.

You could crate them up and bring them in your house during bad storms. Was it at night, or during the day? How big is your coop? Is it small enough to shake?

Most people don't consider how their animals feel during a storm so most won't notice anything. I generally don't check on my animals until the next day so I don't know if my chickens are frightened during a storm. I can't really do much for mine, and I know they will be okay in most instances.

On average most hens will stop laying after being stressed, but should resume after a week or two.

The issue was resolved by one of the first replies. I was asking how to minimize the effect of a storm so it doesn't stress my girls ou
Thank you for offering suggestions, next time we have a storm like that (Which will probably be soon) I will try it out.
The coop isn't small and it doesn't shake - it does have a metal roof which makes a hail storm really loud.
The girls stopped laying for around 3 days, but have resumed now.

That's good to hear. My shed has a tin roof, and even small storms are loud. Big storms are deafening, hail would definitely be terrifying. Hopefully you have no more big storms, but I'm sure it's unlikely.

What I've noticed with my flock is that whoever is leader has a huge impact on how everyone else reacts. I no longer have a mature rooster, but when I did he got the girls riled up and flighty over everything he heard. Taking the tractor in and out of the barn always resulted in quite a commotion from the chooks. Lots of running, flapping and sqwaking. The day after we butchered him I started the tractor and panicked because I heard nothing from the coop. I ran over there and the girls were just scratching around like nothing was wrong. They did not care about that big diesel tractor at all, it had been the roo getting everyone riled all along.
Not sure if this might apply to your situation, but, just a thought. Watch the temperament of those at the top of the pecking order.
