That hen pictured has no Ameraucana or Marans in her. Ameraucana have pea combs and muffs, which are dominant traits. That is a Blue Wyandotte. Notice the rose comb.

Not all olive Eggers have beards of muffs. In fact, many don't. (See link below).

I am not saying of a certainty that the blue is an EE but just because she has no beard/muffs doesn't mean that she is necessarily not.

The cockerel does look like a wyandotte (especially because of the comb, like you mentioned) but aren't Wyandottes clean-legged (no feathers on feet)?

You seem to be very confused when it comes to comb type. The picture of the hen you shared has a ROSE comb. That's usually a Wyandotte trait, and different from the pea comb of Ameraucana, Araucana, and Easter Egger. The cockerel is a COCHIN.

That's why I didn't post an opinion. LOL Don't feel bad we all have valuable input on this site! Everyone is guessing based on features they reconize. Albet, some may be more educated than others. They are looking at pictures and not the actual chicken! We should all try to play nice, as we depend on eachother for so very much here.

You just have a lot more to learn. You need to take into consideration comb type, skin color and all sorts of other features before making a breed determination.

Junebuggena, you are right, many of us have a lot more to learn, the reason I belong to BYC is the hope that I may become more educated. So my chickens will have the best possible life, while providing me with the most yummy eggs. You seem (from other postings that I have seen) to be very knowledgable and I am greatful that you are willing to share that knowledge. Guess I am just an old softy, hate to someone's feelings hurt over a mistake made on chicken breed, based on a photograph.
