Thanks! I'm curious- if you physically move eggs into one nesting bed from another, will the broody abandon sitting on them? I found the eggs I wanted to try and hatch from Wednesday unattended Thursday morning (I had combined the eggs from two into one bed) and very cold. I didn't think they would be viable so I brought them in to eat.

Today, I found Caramel sitting on more, which I've left alone altogether. She left them, not sure if I scared her a little when putting fresh shavings in the bed next to her or if she was just getting a drink. Hoping she doesn't leave them unattended again.

Usually they will keep sitting at the same nest.

They do leave the nest for up t 2 hours each day to eat, drink water and poop though

We were going to try to hatch a few eggs for the first time. Just received an email about this and figured I might as well join! We are looking to add three to our flock. Not sure if we should put more eggs under hen then three? I've had chickens before, but have never tried having chicks, so will be a new experience and an experimentation for us!

Is your hen broody? ( wanting to hatch chicks) Because you can't just stick eggs under any ole' hen and expect her to hatch them for you. Just saying, in case you didn't know!

I can’t wait that long to start my eggs, but they will still be Easter chicks... right?

I'll quote the post from ronott1. As long as they hatch within 5 days of April 12th (before or after) they still count in the hatch-a-long contests but you can still share your hatch with us even if it doesn't fall on the right dates! :love:jumpy

The will count if hatched 5 days before of after the 12th. That is for contests though!

All are welcome to hatch with us

If they are cold when you touch them, is there any chance they may still become babies? I got an egg candle yesterday. The guy said you could tell if one is fertile in about 4 days.
