Eggs in! Well, most of them. I'm hoping to have at least a few more to set by tonight. Been breathing down the necks of a few of the hens in the nest boxes this afternoon.

I did notice that the two eggs I thought were from my silkied Cochin, Abra, are actually a little different from one another, so I guess I have a bit of a surprise waiting if they both develop. Abie stopped laying a couple days ago and I only got those two from her, now down to one, so that kinda stinks. The other egg is likely from my old Silkie hen, Marge, who I wasn't really wanting to hatch from anymore, but oh, well. It could be from one of the other silkied Cochins, but it looks like a Marge egg to me. Abra's sister, Rowena, is in a nest box now, so I'm going to set her egg when she lays it.

I did finally get an OEGB egg, too, so here's hoping that one's fertilized. The girls weren't exactly cooperative with the rooster they were with, though, so I'm not holding my breath.

Don't question it, just get some eggs for your incubator and set them tomorrow at noon, lol.

Honestly, it's the first time I had seen the pop up as well! It must be a newer feature.

I Already have a broody game fowl hen with 14 eggs ready . I will let her have the eggs tomorrow.

As for my incubator I haven't found any good deals on any eggs yet...

We set a dozen. I know we've got fertilized eggs because a wyndotte went broody last week. She hoarded 13 but only 7 developed. Bring on the babies!

It's that time again! Every year, hundreds of members come together to set eggs to hatch on the exact same day - the day BEFORE Easter. As a group last year, we had 2,156 eggs set for hatching! Check it out Ron! When is the last time I hatched? 2 years. Haven't even had chickens. Decided with all that is going on, and we're all pretty much stuck home.. might as well. Our son and daughter in law that is staying said they would love to help with chicken chores. . Anyway...I went ahead and bought 4 babies. 2 of my favorite breeds. Leghorns and Sexlinks. I have the same incubator. Watch that turner motor area--it runs 2-3 degrees warmer than the rest of the incubator...and the "front" row is 2-3 degrees colder than desirable (or just don't use those rows-or add a fan.

That is such a neat idea with the egg halves and mini thermometers/hygrometers!
