I'm not much of the talented cooking type, but a week and a half ago I had a paint pouring class and had my students do wood cut out Easter eggs. Here's a few just as placeholders until some more of the talented food artists show up

Have you tried floating paint on water and dipping? That's pretty cool as well. I know nail polish floats well on cool water, no need to do a special film.
