12+ Blue/Black silkie eggs + WHITE too! - Tx

I do sell chicks, quite frequently actually - but I have never shipped chicks. I dont know the first thing about doing it or how much it costs, the boxes, etc etc.

I don't know anything about it either-but I would sure love one of those buggers arriving at my front door without having to wait a month to hatch them out!!!!

If someone here is experienced in it, and can tell me exactly what I need to do, then I'm all for it....but the buyer would have to pay for the shipping and box fees, supplies, etc that it would take to get them to their destination.

I have so many serama babies right now, I'd love to sell them and ship them *if* I can find out how to do it safely.

Shipping is a piece of cake. Order Horizon brand shipping boxes (pay about $10/each- don't forget to charge the buyer for this when you sell your birds.)

Wire a small container (like a small yogurt container) in the corner in the box. Make Jello using electrolytes (like Pedialyte) instead of water. This goes in the container the morning of shipment. Toss some apple wedges in the box, as well. Line bottom with shredded newspaper (no hay or straw- too dusty).

Check the weather- never ship in very hot weather or when bad storms are expected along the route. Buyers understand if you must delay for poor weather. Get to the post office first thing when they open in the AM. Expect some raised eyebrows and confused postal service people. Ship Expidited Overnight- costs a chunk of change, depending on zip code. They should arrive no problem. Once I had a rooster delayed three days- not good! I owe his survival to the Jello. Def. make sure there's something to keep them hydrated. Avoid grain or feed- you don't want them pooping like crazy during the trip.

Hope this helps!

Oh, I have some of your eggs under some broody silkies and seramas and I am so excited. Someone should definitely grab rthese up.
