I got a PM asking about the expected color of the chicks, thought it would be a good idea to share this with everyone who might be wondering the same thing.
When breeding "Andalulution" type blue chickens, and I am referring to the color of the lacing on the outer edge of the feather in this case.
parents = chicks
blue x blue= 25%black, 50%blue, 25%splash
black x blue= 50%black, 50%blue
black x black= 100%black
black x spash= 100%blue
blue x splash= 50%blue, 50%splash
splash x splash= 100%splash(not an option in this hatch)
Complicating this slightly are the two splash blue columbian pullets, being that they are silver based and all the rest are gold based. This will have no effect on their female chicks, they will be gold based as well. Because male chicks carry two color genes, the sons of these two hens will carry both silver and gold. Probably looking more blue and white,or mostly white, with gold bleeding into the neck,saddle,and shoulders.
Having the black laced cock in the pen will increase the percentage of black laced chicks somewhat, but should help increase size.
