Learning how to ship birds is a goal of mine for 2011.

Not sure if any of these eggs will hatch. The d'Uccles have switched nests several times, and the eggs are developing so slowly, that I suspect they are not as dedictaed as they'd like me to believe. But they growl really well when I want to candle

The partridge showgirl, though, seems to be in it for the long haul. If I'd know she'd go broody, I'd have been more careful about letting the silkie/showgirls free-range near the millies. I know my millie roo has 'had' the white showgirl a time or two. No telling what Rapunzel will hatch...

How funny ..

I've got a lone silkie hen in my LF pen .. she's a tenacious little thing .. and has battled my alpha hen for her spot next to my roo. Her eggs the last two weeks have been fertile when I crack them for breakfast..

My roo is a HUGE Salmon Faverolles .. If she goes broody, those will be some butt-ugly five-toed feather-footed interesting chicks...

Do you know hhammock?
He hatched some of my lavs this past spring to cross with his bantam faverolles. He wants blue favs.

I had a silkie roo breed my EE hens. The eggs were fertile, and started devloping, but failed prior to hatch. I think odds are slim that you'd get a hatch from your sillkie's eggs, but it's worth a try. They were already going to be 5-toed anyway, and they might be pretty.

Last spring I didn't have a silkie roo for a bit, and accidently hatched some silke x mf crosses. They were adorable birds, but I couldn't keep them since they were crosses and I'm tight on space. Each went to an adorable girl-child at the next show I went to. There were two very happy little girls that went home from that show....

Ooooooh nooooooo...I left on my lunch hour and forgot these ended at that time........shoot!!!

I follow the fav thread, so I know who hhammock is .. I don't post because I don't have any fav hens .. only my roo.

I've thought about bantams, but my LF are for eggs .. and the only bantams I have are d'uccles ..

Crosses .. they can be interesting, huh?

Your roo is gorgeous, BTW!

Yes, crosses are interesting, for sure! If I didn't live is a subdivision I'd keep them all, just to see how they turned out!

Why oh WHY did no one remind me that tomorrow is Veteran's Day and there is no mail service?

Hubby is Retired Army, so I totally value the honor being paid to Veterans...
But how can I mail out these eggies!!!!!
