Hi! Thanks for the response! The comb isn't necessarily larger, but it is redder. It is maybe a litttttttle larger. Is the comb larger than the other three? I'm not familiar with the Australorp but if I had to guess, I would lean more towards a little cockerel.
thank you! I have a million pictures of all my chickens EXCEPT that one because (s)he is soooo skittish! That's the only chicken that isn't friendly. I'll take and post one tomorrow when there's light!Australorp boys usually put their combs up large and proud fairly early. Most of my Australorp and Australorp cross boys have been easily ID'd by 4-5 weeks.
Can you get a standing side profile photo and a closeup of the saddle feathers?

Awesome thank you so much for this tip! I'll definitely do this! One trick I have for getting photos of my more skittish chickens is to put them into a pet carrier in the coop overnight and get the photo in the morning with me holding the bird and my DH or one of my sons manning the camera.
Also, if you can't see the saddles clearly on a black bird you can put your hand or a piece of paper underneath them.

It's so much easier to pick them up off the roost at night to put them into a carrier than to try to catch them in the daylight.
