Are you finished with the safegaurd?

Any other symptoms?

What does her poop look like?

What does she normally eat, including treats?

Have you considered vitamin therapy (in case she is deficient)? If you want to try this the usual therapy is 1 400 IU and 1/4 - 1/2 vitamin b-complex daily. It can take as little as a few day to a few weeks to see results.

Regular human grade vitamins that you may have in your pantry or that you can get fairly inexpensively at any store.

Hope she feels better soon!

Thank you. We will try adding vitamins.

Fifi had 2 days left of SafeGuard. Didnt see her poop. Was so lethargic that could not stand or doing anything. We made sure she got enough fluids during the night and she seems to have rallied. Unfortunately the blue ameraucan is hunched up now.

We integrated Fifi and her two other 12 wk chick companions into the main coop with three older hens. Couldit be stress?

How long have you had her and the others? Were they purchased as day old chick or did you get them recently?

What are you feeding them, including treats?

How are the others behaving toward the newbies?

I will tag others who may be able to help more than me.

@Eggcessive @Wyorp Rock any advice?

When was their last treatment of safeguard? If they had a heavy load of giardia then they are most likely having a herxheimer reaction. When parasites die off they releases toxins into the host. The more parasites that die off the more toxins released. A herx reaction can cause a range of symptoms and it feels like a very bad case of the flu (I have experienced it before myself).

Do you have photos of the poop?

Can you take some samples of the chicken poop to your vet for testing of Giardia and for Coccidiosis?

What dose of safeguard are you giving? I'd make sure it's 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once daily for 5 days in a row.

Fenbendazole *should* treat Giardia. It's a protozoa, but if you can ask your vet to do a fecal and it's confirmed this is what's causing your chick's symptoms, then ask if you need to treat with Metronidazole or Toltrazuril.

Possible they have something else going on. Work on hydration and see if you can entice her to eat a bit of wet soupy feed.
