12 wk old bantam chochin was fine last night, and this morning. Something is very wrong! Helllppp!

Since you are just giving oral fluids right now, it may not be necessary to tube feed. If a vet is possible they might tel pl you if she has a respiratory infection. Tube feeding is done usually 2-3 times a day and only takes a few minutes. The amount given is 15 ml (1/2 ounce) per pound of weight. It helps to get a weight on them with a kitchen scale.

I usually dip their beaks into water to get them drinking on their own. You can tube feed larger amounts of fluids and some KayTee Exact baby bird feed. Hear in post 2 is some info on giving a small amount of fluid:

Thank you very much! I appreciate all your help and ideas.. I am at a wait and see now if she pulls through.. I am syringe feeding her electrolytes today/tonight with a syringe..and ordered additional supplies.. im a trauma nurse, so some of it is slightly intuitive for me.. she takes the fluids... so im giving about 5mls of water at a time..about every 60 mins or so... still sounds very gurgling though.. and much more lethargic... if it gets significantly worse overnight, I will probably do the humane thing... poor baby.. and then monitor her siblings over the next couple of days 😮‍💨 man when chicks crash.. they crash

In this picture from an earlier post you can see where the crop feeding tube or a syringe is inserted into the chicken’s throat to safely give fluids. I hope that you can save the chick. Look for any leaking air sac (subcutaneous emphysema) along the chest, ne ck or sides which can cause air under the skin. Those can be a result of a bump injury. I had 2 week old with one and she recovered after I pulled air out with a needle.
