Not a smart idea. That and wouldn't the breaker trip every time something hits it?

Not that I would ever use a circuit breaker as a safety. I like my barn I don't need it burned to the ground.

I hope you and your wife are FAR from neighbors, and I hope you are both well insured. If I lived next door to you and found out you have this going on I would definitely be calling the authorities. What you are doing IS INDEED ILLEGAL, and dangerous. What if you 'forget' to unpulg it one morning? Yikes. Well if your wife ever wants you gone all she has to do is send you out to the chicken coop:>) Be careful big guy...don't ever upset her...

wats next? landmines all over the yard and bear traps? LOL i definitely would never ever risk a humans life to protect chickens when there are better and safer ways to do it!

For as good a forum this is for information about raising poultry, I have a tough time getting past the cliques I see.
We are basically rasing feathered pigs, look at the posts about what they eat and people feeding them scraps, I'll guess 90% or more raise poultry for food.
Now a guy has a plan that works for him to protect his birds and food, so what, people get emotional.
morelcabin ,,,,,, call the police, what are they going to do??? I have yet to see where any code states amperage and voltage for an electric fence.thats what this is.
And the people saying "the poor kid that wanders over",,,, the guy said at night. I don't let my kids out at night. Who here does???? I see nothing wrong if warning signs are posted, I work in an industry where lethal electric fences are normal, read the sign and don't cross the barrier.
Why don't you chastise a person for having a single strand of electric when a tresspasser gets hurt hitting it on an ATV?

I think if someone is poking aroung an established, fenced in area near someones home at night,,,, there are many people that will shoot, not shock.

And BTW in real life, household current doesnt kill unless your dumb enough to make toast or dry hair in the tub, remodeling my rentals I have been shocked many times, and as a welder by trade I get 150 amp zaps every time I sweat, it rains, or snow melts.

More reason and less emotion are needed.

DO NOT TRY THIS.... i all most killed a 400+ pound hog with and old lamp zipper if i had not bin there to turn it off. the hog got in it and the zipper would not let go
