I'm so sorry I misunderstood this 😞(did post my number because I thought this to be correct) and posted something misleading and wrong... Better delete my post, please, don't want to misinform somebody.

No worries, I slip up all the time. Try as I might to keep my lips sealed, my brain works in numbers when I'm incubating "so many" of this breed, and "so many" of that breed. I've also kind of stunned myself with my own set number of eggs this time around so I want to keep saying it over and over and over, lol. 🤐:lau I suppose if someone makes the effort to go through all of my posts and try to assemble some kind of number out of my nonsense, then they probably earned the prize anyway. Lol!

I tried the refrigerator eggs..from a store. They didn't work.. said they were fertile.

Well, these were from a friend's flock. A handful were collected in anticipation of hatching them, left unwashed, pointy end down in a carton, tilted daily, all of the things your "supposed" to do for optimal hatching... She lost a hen so we made the decision to set some eggs that were washed and stored in her refrigerator for 3 to even 4 weeks.

We FILLED the incubator with every Silkie egg she could find in the fridge because we thought for sure the viability would be low, maybe 30% if we we're lucky...nope, 100%. ONE HUNDRED percent viability of the collected eggs and the refrigerator eggs eggs, lol! 😆 At least we can feel pretty confident that one of her hens eggs must be in the mix.

Well, I'm happy to send an encouraging report.. despite being one day early.. I got 100% fertility and hatch.. on this weeks round! :celebrate

I NEED to hatch at least 40 chicks per breed/variety to come even close to meeting my goal of continually improving/replacing breeding stock.

I do the opposite timing wise.. I start the incubator up around Oct/Nov and shut it down around May. :)

I thought I would be slowing my roll with this Easter hatch.. but I collected a Cemani egg yesterday.. out of the 15 that hatched last night, only 3 were Cemani. I'm waiting for the Svart Hona to start laying.. which just helped me figure out I better hatch ALL the Cemani I can and start with the Svart Hona starting in the fall! :caf
I have Pilgrim Geese, Ancona Ducks, Royal Palm Turkeys that I am trying to build up. Once I get them built up I will be adding a second breed of each. For Chickens I have Faverolles and Ameraucana at the moment. We are looking to add a third breed. Looking at White Faced Black Spanish since I managed to find eggs. We usually go for breeds on the Livestock Conservancy lists that meets are needs.
