I wouldn't mind a paper bag, tooI clearly see air cells in my EE eggs but they are so dense it's hard to see anything else. The blue coloring goes all through the shell and not just a coating on the outside. I'm doing the same as you, daily sniff test... don't want stinky eggs in the bator. Other than that it's a wait and see.. 7 days to go... Where's my paper bag?
I'm only sniffing EE eggs, all the others I can actually tell what's going on now.I wouldn't mind a paper bag, too
Reading of pipping, wiggling eggs, hatching and seeing all the amazing and cute pictures and videos on here plays kind of a role with that, too, lol.
Sniff-question: Do you sniff every single egg or do you sniff the air in the incubator?
Ok thank youI'm only sniffing EE eggs, all the others I can actually tell what's going on now.
He's beautiful!I'm so stoked... Checked the eggs in the bator this morning... there is definitely growth in Henrietta's 2 eggs (CM x BSL), then I still can't see squat in EE eggs, so I'll just wait them out.. BUT! I hatched two of Henrietta's eggs last year, one was this loverly guy (pic below, my one winged wonder) and he's in with my BCM pullet... Those are the 6 eggs I'm most anxious about, because it will be his test. I want so badly to see what he's producing with the BCM.View attachment 2588752
The very last Polkie (Silkie/Polish Cross) just hatched! Ended up being a 3 night long staggered hatch but a 100% hatch!
Now, it's time for lots of coffee. Lol
YES definitely!I do that too!! I even heard peeping a few nights ago. The worst is hatch day and when you first put chicks outside. A wild bird makes a sound, and you go running!
My first hatched last year (and the first time ever hatching with an incubator) was also a rooster. I promised whoever hatched first, I would keep unless it was a mean rooster. And he's a darling!I have probably done about 20 hatches at this point and in every case but one, the first chick to hatch was a cockerel.
