I've traveled with eggs vertically in eggs cartons that had been under a broody hen prior to me having them. Traveling with incubating eggs obviously is best avoided when possible but your number one goal is to keep them from rolling around and hitting each other. You could try wrapping them individually with paper towels to stack them horizontally as well but keep in mind that with you traveling for that long there could be all sorts of bumps and turns that will jostle the eggs more than you would expect. A seatbelt is better than no seatbelt sort of idea and in this case the egg carton is the seatbelt.

That looks very nice, especially since it will be in your sister's lap! My broody hen used to kick the eggs around quite a bit, you are much more careful than the mom chicken would be!

I used a microwavable heated wrap for my neck. It has like beans or rice or something inside of it, lol, anyway it holds heat for a long time, something like that would work or some people use hand warmers.

Whatever you decide to use just be sure to check the temperature so they aren't getting too hot either.

I think that for only an hour in a person's 98.6 degree lap, just a towel or light blanket over the eggs would be fine. Eggs can take an hour without any heat. I might be more worried about hitting one of our HUGE potholes we have in our roads, and scrambling the poor eggs! Arizona has some of the worst roads in the whole US. You know best what road conditions you have. Your chicks are not equipped for multiple hits at high speed! Just drive like your Grandma! You will do fine!
