Thank you. <3 She was a RIR+SLW. She had the most lacing intact. She was the most feisty of the ones I hatched, and I loved it. She took after her mama. She will be missed.

Almost all of my first-to-hatch chicks actually turn out to be female. It doesn't happen often enough for me to be 100% sure when they first hatch, but definitely more often than a male being first to hatch for me.

You two ladies, ermmmm.. well folks confirmed my suspicions that early hatchers tend to be male.

I've had lots of first hatchers be girls too. My last one was gorgeous and had quite a prominent little comb at hatch so I assumed it was going to be a boy, but she turned out to be a beautiful girl.

My first few hatches were BCM. Every last one of the chicks were girls.

I had this Silkie x EE be first to hatch for the 2019 Easter Hatchalong and I was sure because of that huge baby comb that this was a male, but she was actually the only female of the three that hatched!

Wait, wait, wait! @BirdsBeesTrees I can’t hatch in that incubator?! That is crazy, how do they say it?

It says on the warranty that if you try to hatch in that incubator then your warranty is void.
I thought that if I put a towel down and cleaned it really well then it would be fine. It wasn't. I had to buy a new hygrometer, (it was easy to install) but it's not supposed to be up as high as you should have it for hatching. Nothing higher than 50% really.
I hatch in my RCom Suro Eco or my Little Giant or my Genesis.
