You can try to readjust his attitude towards you, but you can't fix his behavior towards his flockmates. He sounds like a miserable little beast, at this point!
I'd correct him when he's thinking bad thoughts toward you; don't wait for flogging behavior! If you've raised nice cockerels in the past, you do realize what an outlier he is, and culling fairly early might not be a bad thing.

Thanks. I haven't technically raised any chicks to roosterhood yet, but I do have several cockerels who treat each other much better than this one does. He is an ornery little thing, and the behavior is odd enough that even I, as a relative newbie, am noticing.

I've had a couple of cockerels who started out ugly, and only got worse over time. None this bad at thirteen days, but this can't be good.
Chicks raised with a broody hen in a flock tend to get 'squelched' and learn better manners, but this guy sounds exceptional.

I haven't seen Cujo either, but I think it's from a Steven King book about a vicious dog. Seems appropriate. I think his name just got changed.

You could try 'Fluffy' in case he cares, and decides to behave better. Then again Fluffy in the Harry Potter saga wasn't so nice.
