13 hens... yet 29 eggs a day. Suspicious?

If you have the only key to get in there, I don't have any idea what is going on. Maybe you just have bionic hens.
Sounds like a practical joke though! Make your hubby look you in the eye when explaining his innocence LOL!

My dad's lady friend has a flock of 10 that all lay twice a day. Every day. It's insane. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it for myself. I haven't asked her lately if they're still doing it now in the shorter winter days, but I will. Perhaps you just got lucky and have some hens with shorter cycles? I'm really not sure how that works, but I know it happens.

Hmmm... is it physically possible for them ALL to have such shorter cycles? And is there a possibility that other wild birds could sneak in and lay? But do wild birds even lay brown eggs? The mystery continues!

Joke for sure, change the lock or set up a game cam and don't tell anyone. Or maybe a mouse trap on the latch.

Funny!! Haha I could imaging someone asking me for help removing the mousetrap from their hand! I may actually try the camera thing.

Well, anything is possible

In her situation, the hens do not free range and there is no in & out access for the hens or other birds. It is also very distinct...each day 2 eggs are clearly chicken A's color shape and size, 2 are chicken B's, 2 eggs are chicken C's, etc. I assume (and we all know what they say about that) that just like females of the human species effect each others cycles, hens would too? Start tracking your eggs! See if you can identify which hens they come from, the size, the color and markings. Maybe that will give you more answers

I have heard of hens occasionally laying 2 eggs within the same day, but never so many laying several eggs EVERY day!
Has to be some kind of joke....................otherwise, what are you feeding them because I have to get some!

Haha! They eat regular chicken feed. The one area where there diet differs from that of other chickens is that they consume regular amounts of greens, grains, and goodies everyday. Half of their diet is made up of greens and grains. Not sure if this makes much of a difference
