"Patty" is a 13 month old Rhode Island Red. He was an accidental boy in our chicks last year and has been raised pretty much as a pet. He has been handled extensively, easy to catch & hold, eats out of your hands and frequently is let out to roam our backyard and help us in the gardens. We took him to a local vet recently as a guinea pig so that we could learn how to clip wings & trim spurs because he's so easy to handle. He behaved better than the dogs in there! The vet was very impressed with not only his mild manners but also his size & build for his age. Healthy, big and solid!
Patty is very good with the girls, very attentive, and treats them right. He's grown into a very good rooster for the flock, unfortunately he is not our only rooster, and not the breed we're using. Soon it will be time to introduce our breeding rooster to the flock so it's time to take Patty out. Patty is breeding our hens and we're already finding a lot of our fresh eggs to be fertilized.
We're asking $15 or best offer for him, or trade for a blue or green laying pullet/young hen, to a good home. We won't be shipping him so buyer needs to understand this is local pick up only (or meet for trade, etc) We are in NEW BERN, NC (eastern NC).
