Our first time trying the mama heating pad from Day 1, so much anxiety over new things! They’re quiet though, just small trills occasionally
So glad to hear you got them out before they squished each other to death.
 
And how strong lamp do you use?? i put my under 100 w but they are in kitchen close to fire place
Watching how they act is better than any temperature guide.

Happy chicks, under the correct temperature heat lamp will be active and making happy chick noises.

When they sleep they should be in a loose ring. Middle of ring empty where it is too hot, but that too hot spot should be small.

If they all pile on top of each other in the center under the lamp, they are too cold.

If the too hot spot is huge, then... the lamp is too hot.
