Hello, I have a question that maybe somebody could help with. I have a 5 lb barred rock hen that was really sick and I have been treating with safegaurd paste and with amprol (corid) I have been following the dosing as posted here by Kathy. the chicken was origanally pooping yellow and then it turned into watery puddles with the green dot poop, she was withdrawn from the flock and was not eating or drinking. I pulled her from the flock and put her under heat inside the chicken hospital AKA kennel and weighed her and fed her everyday which included lots of water with probiotics. she is doing well now and is eating on her own and back with the flock raising hell.. to take precausions I wormed all the birds and treated them all with medicated water for 5 days (corid).
anyway here is my question. the eggs that all these hens are laying. CAN I hard boil them and crush them up and feed them back to the hens I know we cant eat them beacuse of the safegard. but will it be ok to feed back to the girls??
thank you in advance. ED

No! As they have been treated...you need to re-treat in 14 days and discard all eggs..28 days in total...do not feed the eggs to the chickens as you will be giving them any residue of the original dose of safeguard...

Hope that helps.

Thank you suzie this makes lots of sense. I will toss the eggs. I was hoping there was a use for the eggs but it is what it is.
the trade off is a healthy and happy flock. thank you
