Hi ! I bought 2 chicks at 2 weeks . They are 5 weeks old. Today one of the started to have marrón color poop. I was not worried about digestive issues because I give them purine medicated feed. Could it be coccidiosis with medicated feed? I bought Corid water anyways . I have 3 dogs . Do I need to worry about the dogs? And my other 2 hens are completely separated. How concerned do I need to be and how to treat it?

Hi! Go ahead and dose the chicks with corid. It won't harm them to have the treatment. Medicated feel can help but I don't think it's a guarantee that chickens won't get coccidiosis.

No worries about your dogs or your other chickens if your chicks are separated in their own brooder. Coccidiosis is contagious from animal to animal in fecal matter typically. It's in the environment (soil) and seems to have an influx of the parasite when it rains.

As long as you're keeping everything clean and the water fresh, they should be alright especially since you have them separated from your other chickens.
