We bought some nine 14 month old ISA HENS in March. We are feeding them oyster shells and 22 percent protein feed and not getting but 2 maybe 3 eggs per day. What can we do to get them to lay. We are also giving them electrolytes with vitamins and minerals. Thanks in advance

Where are you located, north or south of the equator? Is it spring or fall where you are?

What can you tell us about their history? Where did you get them? ISA Browns are a commercial laying hybrid. Are they from a commercial laying flock?

Are they molting? Are you seeing a lot of feathers flying around?

Is there any possibility they are hiding a nest on you? That's often a reason you think they are not laying.

Is something getting the eggs? Many critters eat eggs. Some leave evidence like shells or wet spots. Some (like dogs) swallow them whole.

There are a lot of different things that could be going on. The more you can tell us about your circumstances the more likely we will be able to help.

We acquired 2 ISAs at 10 months old, last June. After we brought them home, it took about a month for them to lay consistently, 6-7 a week.

How many do you have? They won't lay until they feel safe.
