My young chickens (two RIR and two Wyandottes) are roosting on my fence at night and not in the coop. I have two RIR adults who roost in there too. Every night I move them inside so they will wake up with the other hens. One of the young ones has roosted on her own in the coop once or twice but last night she was outside again. I also tried leaving them closed in the coop all day without the adults, then throwing the older girls inside.
Any suggestions? I live in Detroit. For now, being on the fence is ok because it is hot. But come fall, they will need to be inside. This is my first experience integrating older and younger birds and it's been less than smooth.
thanks for any help
Helen
