Egg shells cured my blossom end rot!!!!

Last year I tried a dimly remembered trick from Grandma. Saved eggshells, baked in a low oven and crushed. Baking kills anything on them, makes them crush easily, and supposedly makes the calcium more available. Tossed a scant handful in the bottom of every pepper, tomato and other hole at transplant time. Seemed to do the trick! But last years 2009 virus blight that hit the east got them all eventually.

edited to add: I just found out that someone is coming over with a real tractor next weekend to till up more ground for the garden...little does my DH realize, that to get all he has planned in the ground, pretty much the whole back yard is going under!!!! Mwaaahahaha! Die, grass, DIE!
