I really shouldn't be getting more chickens, but it's that time of year again and I've been browsing all the chicken breeds that I can't afford on greenfire farms! I'm really interested in the liege fighters so I'm thinking of getting some and possibly splitting the order with a friend or getting some hedemoras, which I've also really been wanting. Does anyone have any experience with GFF or either of these breeds? I love the look and the size of the liege fighters but the minimum order is six and I couldn't possible afford more than two at most, so the hedemoras would kind of be fillers, but I'm curious to see what people think of the breeds/experience with greenfire.

Thanks! Not too many posts in that thread so if anyone has any experience I'd still love to know! And still curious about hedemoras and after more investigation on their website indio gigantes, which are insane looking but so cool. I'd love to hear about any experiences with those because I haven't heard much, especially about their temperament.

Hi! We actually raise both Liege Fighters and Hedemoras, and are IN LOVE with both breeds. I notice this thread is a couple of months old, but if you haven't found any yet, we have Liege Fighter hatching eggs available to ship if you're interested. We also have chicks available from time to time. We have raised over 40 rare breeds, and finally settled on some of our favorites, and the Liege Fighter and Hedemora are our top 2! Both breeds are so calm and gentle towards humans, and both have an extremely unique beauty about them. These are the two breeds that I recommend EVERYONE add to their flock. The Hedemora is an excellent egg-layer, some have feathered legs, some have "wooly" feathers, some have melanistic skin, so there is a wide range of styles of Hedemoras. We have several Lavenders, one Melanistic Lavender, an Isabel, and a couple of black split to lavender. I'll see if I can find some pictures of a few of mine.

Wow! They're gorgeous. I did end up finding an alternative to GFF and I ordered some liege eggs from ebay, I think I actually saw your listing! I had a pretty terrible hatch rate out of a dozen and only got two, so I might be looking for more depending on what sex they turn out to be. How much are your hatching eggs or chicks typically? I'd be more inclined to get some chicks than to try hatching eggs again.

I purchased 8, day old Liege chicks from GF Farms a couple years ago. I am very happy with the size and quality of the birds. This year, I raised and sold approx 40 young chicks, and kept back about 20 for my future stock.....Nice colors, Black, Blue and some Splash..
