We got out first chicken at a yard sale 12 April 2025. The man said she was not his and if we could catch her please take her - she was destroying his garden and he kept trying to get her to leave. She happens to be an Ancona and lays pinkish eggs. A week later we went to a flea market and got 2 Rhode Island Reds but they did not start laying until June. I found myself in tractor supply and 12 babies later-- here we are 6 weeks later and not sick or lost chickens. We have 1 Ancona, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 3 Lavendar Orpingtons, 3 Black Stars/Sex Links, 2 Black Gold Laced Wyandottes, 2 Ameraucanas. 5 cats and a 10 year old staffy that loves to watch all the animals and sit by the baby chickens.
I am here to learn and grow as a chicken farmer.
