Chad, I am really sorry for your loss of your babies. I am new to chickens too and I would have been so bummed out if mine had arrived with half of them dead.

I ordered mine from Meyer Hatchery in Ohio and they were perfect. I ordered 25 brown egg layers (variety) and I got 26 very alert and very healthy babies. It has been about 6 weeks and they are still doing great. You should try them!

Chad, sorry for your loss and please keep us updated on the next shipment. By the way, how hot was it in WI when you got your chicks?

I think I was the one who first posted use of ACV - It prevents diarrea. It is good for the chicks perks them up and helps prevent pasty butt. Too much Sugar tends to give them diarrea and pasty butt.

Cider vinegar also promotes digestion, assimilation and elimination and it neutralizes any toxic substance taken into the body.

It is good for people too - so eat some salad with some apple cider vinager and olive oil.

My grandfather used it for everything - all the animals, it can lighten a bruise and may eliminate age spots when applied directly. Of course he was an old cow poke rodeo'in cow boy with a 3rd grade Ed you kay shun as he used to say.

it wasent to hot all week here in WI, like 75 and not humid. but this week is suppose to be around the 90's and awhole lot for humidity, so im pretty worried about the chicks making it.

In the past I've received two shipments from McMurray...one in August and one in November. In both instances, all 26 arrived healthy....the first shipment, they grew up; the second shipment two died at about 6 weeks.

They'll make good, though, I'm sure. I'm with the post-er who said something traumatic must've happened.
